They come ugly bakelite grey.

I wet sanded the ps pump, cleaned it with paint prep, and painted it with a rattle can. I used Plasticoat hi-temp "universal" black. They have a flatter black which would be closer to stock. The PS pump is just NASTY. It's about impossible to get all of the fluid out of it. I put mine upside down in the utility sink and let it sit for a full day and it still had fluid in it.

I took all the brackets all the way to bare metal with wire brushes on a drill and primed and painted them.
