There was an earlier post by Boss351 and how he was having troubles with SWMBO and his mustang obession. Just this past week my g/f and I had an argument about how much $$ I have spent lately on my 3 mustangs and how that has strained our extra spending money for going out to dinner/movies etc.

I found the cure to keep 'em happy. Be interested in something they really love to do, be supportive and buy her something expensive for that hobby. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif She will then recipricate the support to you and your mustang(s). It worked for me, I can now spend as much money as I want, and not get a "You spend too much money on those cars!" Instead, its "Oh, you put in another $400 order, I bet the '66 will look great when your finished." And then there is the "Can I be the first to drive the '66 when she is finished..." Yeah, right...lol

What are ways you keep on good terms with SWMBO?

I tried that with my SWIMBO, while I was saving money to work on Patience. SWIMBO is very much into crewl work (at type of needle art not a misspelling of cruel), and is very good IMHO (and the opinion of several judges at major shows). Stuff is hard to find so whenever we go somewhere I encouraged her to look for stuff.

Worked better than I'd hoped. Not only did she reciprocate by allowing me to work on Patience, she started comming to shows with me, and now very active in our club. Still doesn't want to work on the car so the garage is still my domain.... for now!

I've reprioritzed things and the Mustang is my hobby car and not daily transportation. I don't work on it much, and spend alot more time enjoying SWMBO and the kids, helping them do their homework, etc...

This allows me to freely dream up wild restomod ideas and contemplate how to make them happen.

It was very important, in our case, to understand that family vacations and college $$ provisions are more important than a car. As we have extra funds, SWMBO doesn't mind when I spend them on the car, and I nickel and dime my car together.
