I have a motor that was rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago. I have 2 cylinders with bad rings. With the short block being rebuilt, what if anything should I do with the heads? Wire brush them, or dissasemble and clean them, hot tank, plane them...leave them??? Thanks...

If you are going to go through the trouble of taking them off, then you might as well go all the way

Were the heads rebuilt 20,000 miles ago? If not, rebuild. If so, I wouldn't do anything drastic to them, maybe with the exception of putting new valve guide seals in. If they were replaced during the rebuild, I would probably clean the head up a little and call it good.

BTW, most of my car metal is now built from ice machine lids! :: Doors, ground effects, spoilers...not much John Deere left in it, LOL!
