This may be a dumb question but would it make a difference if I install the front bar with the engine out of the car? TIA

I guess it would, why else bars are supposed to be tightened with the car on wheels instead of on jackstands. This mainly concerns the end links I guess. So I would do the installation with engine out but final tightening engine in and the car on wheels.

Door handle first

Anytime you're doing suspension work you can install it but you shouldn't tighten until there is weight on the suspension. I'm sure their are a few exceptions, but you don't want to get anything in a bind.

My car and the VMF parking lot are at: http://www.geocities.com/Bishir1/FrontPage.html
