I just opened the box to take a look at the new gas tank I picked up at Mustangs Unlimited this week. Found a bent corner. Not a big deal, as I am sure it can be bent back, but it still burns my rear end. The worst part is that I can't remember EVER getting an order from them where they sent the right parts, when or something wasn't damaged or flawed in some way.

Nice guys down there, I have to say that. However, I think I'll be buying from NPD from now on. Too bad. I like the one day delivery. But all in all, when you have to send something back every time, might just as well order from somewhere else.

in my dozen or so orders from NPD, i have never had a problem. worst thing that has ever happened is just recently i received parchment instead of saddle 68 deluxe panels, (which im still waiting for them back to send me) i would highly recomend them to anyone. sounds like the gas tank can be fixed easily, nice car, ttfn

Nice car to you as well Mark...check this out. I just finished it a month or so ago. 1/24 scale.

My experiance with them caused me to never want to deal with them. With so many vendors you would think customer service would be one thing they may want to work on.

I recently ordered a set of styled steel wheels from Mustangs Unlimited (via the Internet) plus one extra wheel for the spare tire. The single wheel arrived within a few days, then nothing. I waited several more days and called the store only to find out that the set was on a 3-4 week (maybe) back order. Would have been nice if they had notified me.

I cancelled the set and ordered it from NPD. On Thursday, as promised, a big box showed up. Two wheels, no centers, no lug nuts. I waited until Saturday to see if the rest had just gotten seperated and called when they still had not shown up. NPD found the rest of the order still sitting in the warehouse because the shippers had forgotten the second box. However, the assistant manager refused to upgrade the shipping to overnight, telling me to call back when the owner would be in to see if he would upgrade the shipping. He then added that the owner is a bit of "a tightwad" and would probably refuse to upgrade the shipping.

So whether it is NPD or Mustangs Unlimited or someplace else entirely, it seems that customer service and attention to quality have gone by the wayside.

Hard to say about the "tight wad" comment. There may not be enough margin to ship overnight for free.

But I agree all of these companies should double check the orders before they go out. When I was a shipping clerk 30 years ago we did it always. It just saved money not having to reship or restock wrong parts or Pi$$ the customer off.

The biggest thing for me is the Connecticut Mustangs Unlimited staff are just plain rude; for some reason, whenever I've ordered, I always get that branch and they just don't want to be bothered - once I asked a specific question about an item, they said yes what I thought it was is the way it was, then when I got it the item was totally wrong.

NPD always gets here faster, too, despite the fact that they're both almost equidistant from my house (4 hours).
