Here's something that was sent to me. Whatcha Think?

Nothing is more frustrating to me than the feeling
that every time I
fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to
>people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my
friends.
> It turns out that some oil companies import a lot of
middle eastern
oil
and others do not import any. I thought it might be
interesting for
Americans to know which oil companies are the best to
buy their gas
from.
>
>Here is the list:
> Top 4 companies that import middle eastern oil (for
the period
9/1/00-8/31/01). By the way, 86% of all middle
eastern oil comes from
Saudi
Arabia and Iraq.
>
> Shell 205,742,000 barrels of oil
> Chevron/Texaco 144,332,000
> Exxon/Mobil 130,082,000
> Marathon 117,740,000
>
> If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports
amount to about $18
billion. that's a lot of money.

> Sunoco 0
> Conoco 0
> Sinclair 0
> Phillips 0
> BP Amoco 62,231,000

Department

located in the U.S.
are
required to state where they get

report on a monthly
basis

I understand these companies may have cross agreements for trading oil located at different points with each other. That is Chevron my trade oil delivered to Florida for Shell oil delivered to California. I know this happens with oil products. This being the case your numbers might change.

An afterthought: I remember that, in early 2001 the Saudi's temporarily reduced oil production; oil, gas, and other prices shot up resulting in some US economy destabilization.

Those companies that have 0s next to their names don't exist in Northern California... Never heard of Phillips, Citgo, or any of the others! Only Chevron for my pony!

Not that I'm all that fond of "Arabs" in general, but what have the Saudis done to us? I seem to recall they provided the US with bases at various times, including the time we decided to kick Hussein around a bit. Any military people want to volunteer more specific info?
I don't think the Saudis should lumped in with the butthole "arabs", I could be wrong.

Your talking crude oil purchases. IIRC, by the time it gets to the pump, its any-body's guess where it came from. Companies will buy raw refined gasoline from one another to spec and add their own additives prior to delivery.

Politics aside, the US consumes more oil than they produce. Saudi Arabia has a large, if not majority, share of the world's oil reserves and production capacity. Dependence on foreign oil is undesirable (see the 1973 oil embargo) but so is $5-$10/gal gasoline.
