I own a 64.5 170 cid mustang . it keeps flooding the carb. we have replaced the carb three times know. we have got the stockone barrel carb back on. I need to know how often the fuel pumps go bad . should I replace it.

That does sound odd. My guess would be the float level in the carb not set correctly but three times?
I had a Holley replacement single barrel carb which had a stuck inlet needle valve and fuel flooded into the intake.

My experience with fuel pumps going bad has always been loss of pressure - from diaphram leaking, or an internal valve failing, or the pump arm pivot breaks.
