Hi - I watched the latest sending unit threads with interest, and used the search feature, and I don’t recall seeing a recommendation for one. Looks like a lot of substandard units out there. Well, I finally need another one after 30 years. The brand I bought back then is no longer available. I’m not too worried about the cost, just want one that will last awhile.

Does anyone have a recommendation for one that might last?

If your rheostat is still good and you like the way your's reads, replace the float and the screen. Getting an accurate one seems like going to the roulette wheel and betting on green.

The rheostat is damaged, I cleaned it until it the windings were shiny and reset the wiper but the resistance is still all over the place it 0 ohms in a few places.
