Anyone know how you safely dispose of a used gas tank?
Cn it just be emptied and put out for garbage or is there a special procedure to follow?
Thanks!

In Knoxville you can put them in the trash or take them to the scrap yard if you cut them in half.

If it was in west Tennessee, you could just throw it in one of our many sand gullies to be used as an "erosion control device". ;)

In Indiana, you can smash it flat and tke it to the local scrapyard. I have flattened them with a backhoe bucket, or run over them with a bulldozer, don't try to flatten it with a hammer because of the risk of sparks.

I cut mine in 4 with my table saw (and an old blade) and put it in the trash.

I drain it and let it dry out really well for a few weeks or more then schedule a bulk pickup. Got one ready for pickup tomorrow.
