Hey guys,

What would you do with a new gas tank (galvanized)? Paint it? Undercoat it? Other?

This is for my '65 convertible. I bought a new tank to install an in tank fuel pump in (so I wouldn't have to worry about blowing myself up working on the old one). I can't decide what I should do.

Kinda depends on what you have laying around. Me personally do not like the looks of undercoating on a gas tank, so I'd opt to paint.

I wanted mine to look new, so I only cleared it.

not sure really why I added the picture, looks just like a tank with clear on it.

They are coated during manufacture, so they shouldn't rust. However, I painted mine to get a more even and attractive finish.

+1

I only clear coated my tank, too. Time will tell if this was a good choice. For now, I really like how it looks.
