The tank with the drain hole makes it mucho easier to drain when you may need to (say you get a bad tank of gas or someone adds something to your gas). I'd take a look at your sending unit first if it's working, there's a circular locking tab that unscrews with a few blunt taps on one tab with a large screwdriver and a rubber mallet (after you've drained your tank).
Take a good look at the filter sock, I'd replace it either way but the sending unit is electrical, it'll work until it stops working so it's up to you to do it now/later.
One suggestion you might consider is upgrading to the '70 22gal. tank, it'll increase your driving distance by 6 gals., at 20mpg. that's another 120 mi. til fillup if you do any long trips. The '70 tank fits the same, it's just taller in the trunk ~2"? but you'll need a '70 sending unit so your gauge reads correctly and you'll need to tweek your spout in the trunk to line up with the tank hole.
I'll be doing this later to my '67 to get more mileage between fillups.
It was AZPETE the following are a couple of inserts from that post. EVERTHING looked new even the tank. This was on the inside.
I paid more and got the 22 gallon one.
It was flapping like this when I took it out. Screen flapped in and starved system, junk in tank also clogged filter at the other end. 150.00ish sender, to much , this one reads fine as it is... I am going to attach a filter to this one, the old one slipped right off and a new one will clamp right on. 400 grit will clean it up.
The sock case was cracked on both ends and ancient and brittle with no tight seal, it is not sold anywhere , the sock would be useless and expensive. Thank you for pointing it out.
The solution... 2.00 filter from Auto Zone , tightly pressed on... done.
I replaced front brake lines and had booster, MC and distribution block professionally rebuilt. I can lock up rear drums but not front disc on an original 1967 GT fast back. So, I am guessing rear proportioning valve needs rebuild/replace as well. I bought Classic Tube set from NPD for the whole...
I’m going to get them welded on but have a bolt-on kit I’m installing right now. The rear is supposed to attach via a threaded hole on the rear subframe. Due to being 50 years old I assume, the holes don’t align between the connector and subframe. The subframe hole is shifted about 1/2” towards...
Everyone with a vintage Mustang must be working on their car.
Stuff that Summit usually has in stock is back ordered up to 2 months.
Im about 45 min from Summit and go right by quite a bit, so I swing in pretty often to pick stuff up.
67 Mustang MC backordered until 1 Sep.
No 4100 carb...
So I was cleaning out my trunk when I found some parts that I have no idea what they are...one looks like a piece of cardboard glued to the back of the well-liner...it is in fairly bad shape and I assume is original to the car...what is it (see first picture)?
The second piece I...
I recently noticed a pool of oil in a crevice of my engine.
Last time I thought it was just coolant since its right under the thermostat housing, but earlier I accidentally dropped the napkin on the side fender after trying to soak it and it was oily!
Anyway, the engine is still hot...
