Just need to know if leaded gasoline is still sold in the USA ? Also are engine reconditioners now building all engines to run on unleaded ? I live in Australia and have a 67 which had the engine rebuilt 10 months ago in Pheonix. You can no longer get leaded gasoline in my town.
Thanks for any help

We haven't had leaded gasoline avaiable to the driving public in quite a while, probably close to 10 years. You should be OK and the vavle seats have probably already been changed to the stellite hardened variety.

If you are worried about it there is a lead additive on the market that you can add to your fuel the other thing you can do is see if the machine shop that built your motor replaced the vavle seats with hardend ones. ::

Generally, if the heads have been rebuilt anytime in the last 10-15 years, then the valve seats (the only real part that needed the lead) were replaced with hardened seats.

Otherwise, you're all set. I run 89 octane all day long without a single problem (with 15k miles a year).
