I need to remove the driveshaft from my '89 mustang with a T-5 because it is pretty twisted and I'm assuming it will cause problems. I was told you need to plug the tailshaft so the gear oil doesn't all run out when the front yoke is pulled. Can't I just jack the car up high in the rear? Thanks for any help.

Summit and Jeg's both sell a little plastic insert to replace the driveshaft to stop the oil flow....they are cheap...like $3.00 or so. You might check your local auto parts store. I think Advance has them. Or, you might find an old driveshaft to fit your car, and, with a torch, cut the yoke off tomake a plug...

i bought the tailshaft plug mentioned in previous post but really did not need it - nothing came out but it was a '68 C4 - i would recommend buying plug just in case. i got mine from NAPA for $3-$4.
