Gonna try this first, before shelling the $$ out for a new gear set and re-build. An unexpected trans re-build has set me back. With all the vintage cars gone, is there a list of what cars have the CC I need/want?
Thanks
also V8 Mavericks. Possibly Mavericks with the BigSix (250) but Im not positive they had the 8 inch rear. Someone else will know. If they want more than 75 for a Maverick or MII rear chunk its too much.
How do you tell if it's a posi unit of those cars? I need an 8" posi unit to go with my 3:40 gears, but I don't want to spend big bucks (I know, good luck, right).
Try an older station wagon. I got a set out of a 63 Fairlane wagon. Didn't know what they were. I wanted the housing. The spring perches were off though, so it was no use to me. I think 3.25/3.50 gears were the standard on early 60's V8 cars with the 8".
I would look for mid to late 60's Falcons, Comets and Ranchero's and mid size wagons (Fairlane) for a 3.25 ratio 8 inch. Most of the Mavericks and Mustangs 2's came with 2.75 or 3.00's for 8 inchers (other ratios mainly came with the integral carrier type also used in them behind the 4 and 6 cyl cars).
