Hello,

Can anybody recommend me some shops in the LA(California) area that do decent work and are familiar with old mustangs? I have a 65 that I am looking to install subframe connectors on(weld on type) as well looking for front end alignment. Would prefer to have this done by people who are familiar with these types of cars especially when it comes to front end alignment.

LA is a big place! In what part of the city are you living? There are a few Mustang specific shops in the San Fernando Valley.

Im out by Pomona but will be moving in a few months. Depends on where I end up for work but it'll be somewhere in LA or OC. I don't mind a drive for the right shop though

For alignments I go here: California Frame & Axle - Huntington Park, CA Old school place a bit out of the way, but always able to accommodate and actually resolve alignments with no bs professionalism. They do everything by hand and were even able to align my Bronco on 38"s.

For the subframe connectors any competent welder with a drive on lift should be able to do it for you. You want a drive on lift because you want to make sure the body is not flexed when installing so the connectors don't tie in, in the twisted position, which may affect door alignment and body panel fit. If you can't find a spot locally, let me know and I can refer you to the muffler shop that did mine, they are located in zip 90041.

I try to take care of as much work on my car as possible myself, but I'm in the San Fernando Valley and would be interested in hearing about any recommended Mustang repair shops.

B&D Tires in Altadena. Richard knows his way around classic cars. I've been taking my 66 to him for a long time.

Hey @rhutt and @GT289 what are your SFV area (preferably west side SFV near Simi) recommended shops?

Mustangs ETC in Van Nuys use to be great. The parts dept is still really good but the repair shop is now it's own sub department and the prices really went up for work. There's also a dude by the name of Paul who lives in Castaic, about 20-30 minutes north of SFV, and runs Mustang MD. It's basically this giant ranch on the hills full of mustangs from every year imaginable. He's very knowledgable and does good work too.

Mustangs Etc. and Mustang Service Center in North Hollywood are both good shops. Paul at Mustang MD in Castaic is great for OE parts and is very knowledgeable, but I have never had him do any work on my car so I can't recommend him for labor or installations. I only live 15 minutes from him and have purchased many OE parts from his yard.

San Fernando Valley is a tough one. Maybe Marlo's Frame & Alignment, West Coast Classic Mustang, Maeco Motorsport....... all depending upon what you need accomplished.
I've called on Marlo's as a part manufacturer and had work done by Maeco.

If you end up in Orange County this is a good shop: Welcome to Mustangs & Fast Fords OC Open: M-F 9-6 Sat 9-1
"Mustangs & Fast Fords", they are in Santa Ana.
Over in LA County, in Bellflower, is B&D Alignment - (562) 925-3320, they've been around since the 60's and are suspension specialist.

Marlo is a bit of a no nonsense dude and if you didn't buy the top dollar parts he might act like you insulted him, but he does do decent work.

Stay away from Mustang Service Center. If you're not mechanically inclined they will take advantage of you and leave you with downright dangerous work. There's a few other SFV members that have had bad experience. Stay away.
