And I quote from page 3 of Ford Shop Tips, December 1966, Amen:
"As an example, a typical D.S.O. number might be 11-0645. The 11 indicates the district (in this case Boston) in which the vehicle was delivered. The 0645 means this vehicle was the 645th special vehicle order delivered in the district that year and it has a special equipment parts list available with the same number."
So look for some non R.P.O. parts on your ride! It further states that the owner would receive a special blue envelope with that special parts list, and that an item not normally available on your vehicle, but available on another would be considered "Domestic Special Order" for your vehicle. That's right, even if it was a set of hubcaps!
