Perhaps searching the archives using Pertronix as a keyword can unravel the mystery. I've seen numerous posts about intermittent ignition problems with the unit in my 3 years here.

Take a peek and maybe you'll get some tips...re-installing the points is one sure-fire diagnostic.....oh, and make sure the Pertronix is getting 12 volts...
