Nice. I run a similar buss bar. I used 2 waterproof relay holders without a cover. I like the box with the cover. Perfect if you want to do headlights, horn, and fan relay!

I've done the conversion. Perhaps, somewhere in your endeavor, there was a misstep. Re-check you wiring and the instructions. I did not purchase from NPD. Mine was a Ron Francis kit. Could there be a defective connection?
Can't comprehend there can be that much difference. Re-check........
Good Luck.

Am editing to offer.....my relays are on the driver's side apron forward of the shock tower.

I'm almost embarrassed to ask, but what is the advantage of installing relays to headlights, horn, etc?

Thanks
Not an embarrassing question. Relay's take the brunt of the amperage, that would, otherwise, be passed on to a far weaker switch. In the case of the Mustangs, the light switch takes the brunt. So, by adding "Relays" we reduce the effort taken on by the light switch, plus, provide a far better voltage path to the headlights. This results in a "brighter' old style bulb? Many have added more modern bulbs, as an alternative.
Hope this helps......

I need to add something to this discussion. Does anyone recall where the wires from the dimmer switch go? Do they go straight to the main plug or is there a junction before. I was thinking when I rewired that the low and high beam wires went straight to the main plug. They then went on to the headlights. Please correct if I’m wrong.

I'll take a look at my wiring and get back later.....BTW, I do recall the Dimmer needed a attention, just don't recall the details.

It looks like the dimmer switch goes into a 4 pin plug and then gets bundled into the harness. At least that's how I'm reading this. http://averagejoerestoration.com/re...stang-wiring-and-vacuum-diagrams/67exter1.jpg

I got a 4 relay box out of a 90s Ford in the junkyard and bolted it to the bottom of the battery tray. I figure that keeps it as close to the battery and the lights as possible for short wire runs and you can't really see it unless you go looking.

I installed my headlight relay kit last winter. I had the same problem, no high beams. When I traced it back using my test light I had power going in the fuse holder but none coming out. After checking the fuse again I realized the wires coming out of the fuse holder had missed their connections when crimped from the factory. I hated cutting up the new harness but after a quick trip to the parts store the new holder fixed my issue. I would have sent it back to the manufacturer but running the wires to the low beams on a 69' is a real pain. Terry:frown2:

Here's an easy to follow step by step horn relay install. If I can follow this and do the relay install successfully, anyone can.

Final update on my high beam problem. I think I told you that if something could be screwed up I would do it. Well in tracing the wires I found the main plug in the dash was loose. I unplugged and readjusted and, what do you know. High beams!!! Thank you for all your help.

Good job! I would still recommend a relay setup. You'd be surprised how much brighter your lights will be and your light switch will stay cooler and last longer.

I have the relay setup. That’s when I found no high beams. I’m very good at getting in a hurry and not double checking what I do. That’s why I’m on this forum so much. Everyone on here has helped me.

A nice drawing, but I'm wondering if you could you post a larger and/or higher resolution version of the image. Thanks.

Maybe I reduced the size before attaching. IDK, But I usually shrink pics from my phone. Let's try this again. This is the full size file that I pulled off the interwebz.

Edit: Nope. Didn't work. But I can send you the file if you PM me your email address

Good thread!
I’ll be tackling this soon now that I’m back on the road.
Just to let you and everyone considering this, the 12$ Chinese from fleabay and the 30-40$ ones from CJPP et all look exactly the same. I put the cheapie on my 66. Worked great, just had to wait 3 weeks for it! It can be easily modified if you want to clean it up and integrate it as @DonP has posted. I just plug and played the supplied plugs, and hid everything.
