Remove the connector to the switch, lubricate with WD-40 and replace and remove several times. If that won't fix it, remove switch and spray WD-40 in switch and actuate several times. If not, you might have to replace the switch.
sounds like you are moving it slightly with your foot - when you say they blink out do you mean they turnoff and then back on again or just completey out? trky wiggling with you hand and see if you can find sensitive direction to turn them on and off - probably needs cleaning under switch.
