I went for a cruise tonight for no particular reason and as I'm going around a corner (of course) the head lights went out. I found the switch real fast and jiggled it and they came back on. That kind of ruined the mood of the cruise!! It happened again after awhile same deal --jiggle the switch and they come back on. They stayed on for the rest of the trip home no problem. Can I take out the switch and fix this by cleaning connections or is it new switch time? I would like to fix the switch I have if possible. Has anyone been through this? Thanks

The old Headlight switch strikes again!

Yes, we've been through that one, thousands of times.
NAPA auto parts sells a replacement switch for about $30.
Ask for a headlamp switch for a 69 Mustang.
Then you can run Halogen replacement lamps for better visibility.

I just did this a month ago on my 65 coupe I6.
Really happy with everything.

The NAPA unit is an easy install.
The clip pops right on.
Careful with the inner bezel screw.
I F*&%%*& up my paint around the switch a little.

You should be good to go.....

It's the head light switch. Had the same problem and just changed mine. Had same problem on my last car too.

On my 70 Coupe, I drilled out a couple of rivets, and took mine aparrt and cleaned it up. I put it together and then had problem with the automatic bimetal circuit breaker opening that's built within the switch. (The lights would go on and off as the circuit breaker re-set itself)

I finally purchase a replacement switch - all is well!

I had the exact same problem.

I just bought a new switch for 19 bucks... can't beat that (that I know of)
