I have a 1966 that is having a problem with the high beams. The headlights are working fine, as are the high beams, but only for about 2 minutes. Then all the lights cut out. If I switch back to the low beams, the lights come back on. If I switch back to the high beams, they stay for about 5 seconds and then the lights cut out again. What's up? I remember seeing something about this before, but I don't remeber where.

I recently had this same problem.

Sounds like a bad headlight switch.
(They go out all the time.)
The switch is more sensitive with the higher load of the high beams.

NAPA makes a great replacement for about twenty bucks.

I assume nothing else is wrong with the electrical, only the headlamps...

a bad high beam switch. It's easier to get at and if you run a continuity check on it it should be almost resistance free when turned on.

Does your headlights flash when you hit the high beams or just goes completely dead after that two minutes? If it just goes 10-7 and not flash, try replacing the high beam switch first.
