Has anyone out there tried those new headlight mods that replaces stock lamps with the new white/blue light. I forget the proper description. Maybe Tri- something.
Are they an easy install?

Tri-bars? I think a couple of folks (Autoxsteve for sure) have them. They say they're great. I have Hella H4s but the abrupt cut off is a little disconcerting. I think you can get sealed beam headlights that have a bluish tint (Sylvania Cool Blue, I seem to recall) but I don't think they're as bright as the tri-bars.

Tri-Bars. They are available at Mustangsplus (www.mustangsplus.com). Mustangs and Fords recently did a terrible article on them. They just plugged them in. Unfortuantely, the old mustang wiring (that runs from the battery, to the fuse box, light switch and back out to the headlights) can't really support all of the current that the new halogen lamps require. I added two Bosch relays that basically operate off the existing low/high beam circuit and send direct battery power to the lamps (through a fuse, of course). Below is a picture of where I installed the relays. the location is behind the passenger side headlight bucket.

Yeah I saw that little tid-bit in 'Mustangs & Fords'. They made it sound like just a plug in.
Thanks for the info.
Your car is looking great. I wish I could make it to Knotts to see it. Definately next year.

they are literally raping people on these, like they do on a number of the other parts they sell such as the Fuel Safe Fuel Cells. They sell the Tri-Bars for about $200 a pair... you can find them online at Hot Rod stores for $89 a pair and less if you search around a bit ... they are a standard 7" beam. Do some comparative shopping when dealing with Mustangs Plus, they are great people but do take advantage of their position sometimes.

The tri-bars are just headlights that use replaceable H4 type bulbs. They do make H4 bulbs that mimic the blue white hue of true HID systems, but they are not. The cheapest true HID systems that I have seen a year or two ago were a couple grand. But I hear they are coming down in price, I don't know where they are at right now.

I love the tri-bars, regardless of how much Mustangs Plus raped me!

As for plug in installation? Mine work fine... I just took the old ones out, and plugged in the new halogens...
