Got the new issue of Mustangs & Fords today. I have been trying to figure out what head is on the new junk I just picked up. I got a carburetor gasket and intake base gasket. I got Felpro gaskets for a 63 to 73 200Ci I6 and they don't fit. They were way to small. I used the old ones with some RTV and it started right up. Had to replace head gasket and get broken bolts out of head for exhaust. Anyway I am confused, the magazine says it is a 68 200Ci. The part #' s are C8DE on the block and C9DE on the head. It also has the Carter carburetor they show as belonging on the 250Ci. Anyone have any ideas as to what this is and what I should ask for as far as gaskets go? The guy at the parts store gets frustrated with me, because I ask for parts for my old cars and they never seem to fit. Thanks,

Neil

Neil,

Pardon me, but I just have to say that the recent Mustang and Fords article on the sixes SUCKED @SS! I couldn't believe how much misinformation there was!

Anyhow, you have a 250 head. It has the 1.75" intake oppening so just ask for a gasket for a '70 Maverick with a 250 or something like that. The heads changed in 1969 along with the gasket so whoever sold it to you has a messed up catalog.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping the magazine was wrong. The block # is that a 200 or a 250.
