The casting#'s on my heads are C8AE-H and go with my engine as I got the car from the original owner with all the papers and 42k miles. I earlier said that I was told I had 428 heads but actually misrepresented that. How it was stated to me was that although the castings match that of a 68GT the heads were machined for the larger valves later in the production year. I'd like to finally get to the bottom of this short of removing the heads just to see.

I've got a couple of good reference books that list the valve sizes for your head at 2.02/1.55. No reference is made about larger valves later in production. The confusion my be that some of the standard 428's used the same head. The CJ head had valves of 2.08/1.65. I'm sure if Jeff has other info he'll let you know.

Joe I wouldn't doubt that that's probably it. People have a tendancy to enlarge good stories. I'll be visiting that Mustang library (I've seen it) soon!
