Sounds correct. There's a bullet connection about 8" from the keyed ignition switch on the dash (yours is in the steering column, right??), and the two tach wires plug into those. You can only do it one way (male to female, female to male). Yes, you still need the pink resistance wire. The whole thing is just plug and play.
