Bought a helicoil kit 5/16-18 course thread in order to fix one carb bolt that stripped on my manifold. The instructions actually have 4 different paragraphs and I don't usually respond to more than 2 instructions at best (one is better). Kit comes with a bit and a bolt and a bunch of coils.

Now what do I do?

Thanks.

I bought a Heli-coil kit when the bolt stripped on my 4300 carb.
Here is what I did:
1 - drill the hole using the supplied drill bit
2 - use the supplied tap.
Be very careful when threading the first time.
Make sure your tap is straight.
I usually do a slight clockwise turn then counterclockwise
and so forth.
3 - place an insert on the mandrel tool and slowly thread the insert
in the newly tapped hole.
4 - stop when the insert is flush unless you want it deeper.
5 - slowly remove the mandrel tool.
6 - you can remove the tang of the insert by using the
supplied rod.

Hope this helps.

If there's an ID threaded cone-shaped thingie in the package, don't try to install the Heli-Coil without threading it into the thingie first...some sizes/types use them and others don't....once I forgot which was which...

Don't ask...*G*
