Hello From Southern Maryland

Happy to be here. Just pulled the trigger on a 68 3 Speed I6 yesterday. Looking forward to a backyard budget build to putz around town in. I spent my fair share of time turning wrenches but I’ve been behind a desk the last 13 years so I’m gonna ask a whole lot of dumb questions a teenager would ask. Oh and I’m cheap. Always making trade-offs between time, & money or personal preference vs OEM Specs.

Seems like an unmolested car that has not been fooled around much with. Good luck with it!

Straighten the bumper, fix what is broken, adjust what needs adjusting, new tires, new fluids, alignment, new carpet and some weatherstripping, buff the paint to some level of shine and you're good to go :)

Welcome! Looks like it's already a driver. Nice find. I'm in your neck of the woods too. There's a Car's and Coffee every other Sunday in the Hobby Lobby parking lot. It's a good place to bring a vintage car like that and chat with other car guys in the area.

Welcome...Agree it looks like a solid driver as is, and a nice project to work on.

I’ll have to come check it out for sure when I get a chance.
Welcome to the VMF nice looking 68. What do you consider Southern Maryland, western side of Charles County here.

Welcome. Anne Arundel Co. here.
Nice basic car. "Cheap" is good. It only gets really expensive when you're either (1) fixing rust or (2) hot rodding it a bit. If you keep it basic, it's fun and affordable.
Remember, the only dumb question is the one not spoken.
I suggest (as I always do) getting a Ford Shop Manual from one of the many Mustang parts vendors or Amazon. I got mine at National Parts Depot (NPD), one of many good vendors. Also get their catatog.
You might want to check out Mike's Mustang near Accokeek. It's a junk yard with lots of Mustangs of all ages.

Great area for taking a two-lane blacktop cruise on any given [Sun]day!
Welcome! I too have a ‘68. You will learn a lot here…utilize the search function. It will be your new best friend along with NPD and CJ!

Known Mike for years, just right up the road from me.
Welcome to the club! Nice car you’ve got. We spend a lot of weekends on the Northern Neck, not too far from you. I’ll have to check out the C&C at the Hobby Lobby sometime and definitely Mike’s Mustang.

That always amazes me. The United States is a huge country yet many times when a company is mentioned, somebody replies with "they're just down the road from me". :D
