I'm trying to wrap up my suspension rebuild/power steering install/exhaust swap and the #$%^ing H-pipe doesn't mate up to the manifolds properly. I have brand new Hi-Po manifolds and a brand new Hi-Po H-pipe. It fits ok on the passenger side, but the angle is wrong on the drivers side. The H-pipe had a tag on it identifying it as the correct part, maybe it was mislabled.

What has your experience been with these parts? I would expect these parts to fit perfectly. I need you opionions on what I should do.

Here are some pics:

Looks like the typical fit problems you get with many crossover pipes-in twenty years of installing them, I have only seen a few that fit "perfectly", sometimes a little bending is necessary, either due to the factory being off, or slight bending in handling/shipping.. Also did you have the one side drawn up tight when you were trying to install the other side? Leaving the one side loose on installation will give you more room to swing the other side in and draw it up properly.

I have the right side installed loosely. I would just bend them apart more if that was the whole problem, but the angle seems wrong on the left side. So your telling me this is typical?

i recommend you take it to a muffler shop and have them bend the pipe if necessary

I'm doing the precisely same thing but fortunately found I could get the h-pipe installed. My problem is later downstream where I can't seem to get the extensions which go over the rear axles to properly line up with the valance exits. One side fits pretty closely but the other is significantly off.

I will most likely head off to the local muffler shop before too long.

I got it I got it!!!! I took the H-pipe out and looked at it real close and noticed the flange that holds the O-ring looked improperly formed as you might be able to see in the bottom picture. It was angling the O-ring up and to the right. I went to Dallas Mustang down the road to see if they had one in stock (they didn't when I bought this one) and they swapped it out for me even though I didn't buy the bad one from them! How's that for customer service?

Thanks for the help.
Now I can finish the power steering and alignment and ........
