I have a fresh topend rebuild on my 73 351C 4V. Heads, lifters, pushrods, Cam, timing set etc...
I broke in the Cam (20min at 2K RPM) without incident. Car sat for about a week and I fired it up today and was getting a little smoke from the breather on left valve cover. What do you think guys? Be Gentle.

Whenever you do just a top end rebuild, you are now introducing wonderfully new tight solid compression to a bottom end that, while it may be sound, will still have worn rings. You are pulling up oil past the rings becasue the top end is so fresh, hence the smoke through the breather. Also check your pcv valve.

I might have misunderstood about the top end.... If you did do the rings etc... then its gonna take a while for everythng to seat and seal. Until it does, expect some blow by..
