I need two nuts for the torque converter. They're 3/8 - 24 hex flange nut, but they're unique for the low clearance requirements (I don't know the specific clearance)

The original Ford part number is 34370 S or 34370 S8. Not available from Ford - obsolete since 2000, no replacement.

Couple of questions:
Am I correct that I cannot use just any flange nut?
Any suggestions on where to find this? I called NPD - no dice.

Thanks in advance for your help. It's these nickel and dime things that are holding me up right now.

They don't need to be flange nuts. 3/8-24 clinch nuts work just fine. Use a thin ("AN") flat washer under them. Buy them from a reliable source, NOT AutoZone, Kragen, Pep Boys, etc.
If you need a vendor, King Bolt in Covina Ca can help you.
