That would be great! I vote for Morro Bay as the ideal destination. Great eateries, great lodging, great views and great golf! Plus, it's about as centrally located as you can get. This would be a blast, and a great drive from wherever your coming from, north, south or east.

Gosh, that would be great! I love Cambria, Morro Bay, SLO and Santa Barbara areas. Of course, we'd all have dew on our ponies in the morning ;-)

PS ~ I won't have to eat sushi, will I? (Don't do raw fish.)

Yeah, and hit the car wash afterwards....I couldn't believe how fast rust showed up on everything (including my bike) when I took the D-coder camping over at Morro Bay over the last couple years...

Even the rain was salty...*G*

BTW, you're probably thinking of sashimi....sushi is made with cooked stuff and sticky rice...

Take a look at this site for some more info...

Ok, don't do fish at all! Cooked or otherwise ;-)

(Well, maybe alittle lobster...)

Hey, no making fun of Fresno! *G*

Actually, it's a good mid-point for a cruise...and Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon nat'l parks as well as Morro Bay/Pismo are only a couple hours away...great side trips..

I have adequate parking for 20 or so rigs at my place and could likely swing some RV hookups...and could have one of my wife's clients (who catered our wedding) do the BBQ...

If we co-ordinated with the two Concours events in Fresno, there could even be some car show action for those inclined...

Another possibililty along the lines of your suggestion would be to meet somewhere in the Paso Robles area and do a wine country tour along Hwy 46, both east and west out of PR....great wine tasting, B&Bs and gardens to explore along with coastal scenery.

I'd suggest spring or autumn since temps in the valley are cooler then and the weather at the coast is nicer...it's pretty foggy during summer...

The raw fish issues aside, some great suggestions. I might even be able to get some of my fellow Bay Area Mustang Association members to attend. The Morro Bay/SLO/Pismo Beach, the Paso Robles and, yes, even the Fresno sites sound very possible. Can you get any idea of the cost of having someone cater a BBQ as you suggested? We'd probably have to discuss the cruising part with the local city authorities (cops/planning/bureaucrat jerks) in advance, but most of the central California people are a lot mellower than the suits here in the Bay Area. If people want to do something like this later in the year or next summer, I'm willing to serve as the receptacle for e-mail and will try to coordinate with a VMF member on site (if possible). It would be a great opportunity to meet some of you and to just get the Mustang out and drive it for the weekend.

Sounds like a great idea!! I think the central coast would be a good median location and good scenery.

According to the VMF Locator, as of 7/12/00, there are 33 VMFers in CA, 5 in AZ, and 4 in OR. I'm sure the numbers have changed by now, but it looks like around 50 participants around CA. Maybe we should start a poll to determine a good count and meeting location.

Hey! Do it at a time that doesn't conflict with the Corn Feed and I'd be interested in making a trip!

Sounds great, central to northern California would be great, I am in Vancouver, so it is just a run down the coast. Would be nice to meet some of the VMF crowd.

Does the ride have to be a 'Stang? mine are project cars and my dad's needs engine rebuild. The Futura is what the third gen 'Stangs are based on if that helps.

Morro Bay or Pismo gets my vote although San Luis Obispo might be nice too.

Interested to hear what every one has to say.

Man! First it was Iowa, and that was too far...now its Cali, and that's DEFINITELY too far! Just wait until I get the 289 rebuilt or drop in a 5.0 and a quick paint job and the Russ'stang will make the west coast. You guys just have it too good out there, no wait, we still have POWER out here *G*. Enjoy your cruise.....

Sounds like a good idea. But I'd agree with camachinist the coast and the salt air at least don't mix with my fastback. Somewhere mid state like sacto or sears point would get my vote. And you could leave the raw fish at home, YUCK.....

With being located at Vandenberg AFB, Ca, I 'll be in SLO in 50 minutes and Morro Bay in just over a hour. So count me in.
May not look pretty without the paint job, but she'll run with the best of them.
Also Paso Robles and wine touring would be great as Pat suggested.

Wherever we have it I'm in. Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur,
San Jose, San Francisco. My 2 cents. Oh, I like Opentrackers idea of Laguna Seca. Its a wonderful area, and its not that close to the ocean that your car will rust as it enters the gate. I think I'll run a screwdriver under my floor pans, we'll see if it rusts.

Hey, maybe we can get some shots of some fine vintage Pony's in front of some missile launch pads or something...*G*

Hey, I thought your car had that blue paint I like so much....what's this unpainted stuff? ...

With Knott's and the Corn Feed, I'd say mid-Autumn would be a great time....

And if you guys like some killer pizza, I know a great place in Morro Bay we can take over for the night......
