It has been about 10 years since I have turned a wrench in anger. Thanks for all the help, tips, suggestions, scoldings and other help on here, I finally went out and pulled the cover off the 65. I even crawled under the rear, well I had to because the trunk was locked and I didn’t see the little slot to turn to unlock it at first. A few things, the Mopar guys who did my bodywork and paint did more than I thought. I knew they put new seals on my rear end and welded in my subs, but I seen new brake lines and hoses under there as well. Time to take stock of what I have and what I need. Snuggle Bunny and I will inventory the stack of boxes I have from NPD and find out how much of the original stuff I have in other boxes. Time to get moving. This will still probably be slow, but I’m feeling it. Thanks for the support, and even for the good natured shaming.

Hmmmm? After looking online at Cobranda stuff, they show a red, blue and green but no description. Not sure what they’ll be. Will have to research.

Normally those are like oil and water, etc. too high/low to get your attention...

I actually did think about clocking my tach, but with the driver cam I’ll probably use it would have almost been upside down. Didn’t know if that would be cool or dyslexic….
Didn’t get a lot of wiring done today, just a few terminations. I’ll have to study up by laying the AAW info side by side with the Classic Instruments info and get my game plan. I’m coming to little realizations like, “Oh, I won’t be using a speedometer cable with this.”. I’ll figure it out.
I did decide to install the headlight buckets into the assemblies, trying to finish off things and clear work space. I did NOT plan on removing the front assembly to do so. After chasing the springs and the little brackets the adjusting screws go into around the garage, I just broke out the socket and took it off and laid it on the table to assemble. I’ll use much less touch up paint because of this. No pictures of results, but I’m digging my little remodeled shed addition I’ve dubbed “The Mustang Room”.

That blue pine is $15 hardboard paneling. This was a insulate/panel and be ready to keep working all winter project.
Spent all day crimping wire connectors and making little harnesses for the instruments. One of my LEDs broke so I need to order another one. Will have 2 green turn signal indicators and a blue high beam light. Not much to show picture wise but I put about 5 hours in on this today, including running to my local hardware store for more wire and connectors. Time for a hot shower and a beer.

Today is confession day. As I’ve related many times before, I have a 1998 Explorer 5.0 straight off the assembly line, never been in a vehicle, zero miles. I bought it from a former member’s boss (Plummer55) up in Cleveland, Ohio. It has sat since I bought it around 2002-2003 timeframe, first in my dad’s leaky shed and them in my barn. I have popped the valve covers but I’ve never tried to turn it over. Call me all the names you want, I deserve it. Today I took a beer and went to the barn to grab the tiger by the tale. I’m ecstatic to say it spun easily! I squirted a little little WD-40 in each cylinder and rotated it several times before putting the plugs back in. It was a good day!

Looks like its been sealed up fairly well!

Nice that it spins easy. Probably wouldn't hurt to drop a little oil in the cylinders and rotate the engine to lube the walls...

When's the start-up?
