The guy who just fixed the rear breaks on my Maxima tells me I'd be a lot happier with a Holley 550 versus rebuilding my stock original 69 2bbl. What do you all think? I am a bit of a purist (not way out there though), and I am having a hard time not convincing myself to get a new ford (Autolite/Motorcraft??)carb, or rebuilding mine.

I guess if the holley will give that much more performance, I can always save the original one....I don't even think it's worth rebuilding to be honest...

Don't do it! A nicely adjusted motorcraft will never let you down. A bigger carb wont make a 2-V manifold flow any better anyway. My $.02.
