I think I know the answer to this but need confirmation. Are the "underside" of the hood and trunk lid's supposed to be same as body color or satin black?

Mine are satin black, and I'm thinking that they're repo body parts that were only painted on the outside.

They could be service parts. Hood and trunk lid should be body color.

(sorry , I grabbed one of the engine by mistake instead of another view of the trunk)

The underside of my trunk and hood are the same color, but duller. Did these surfaces not get some sort of gloss coat?

I'd guess the (outer) body was repainted at some point.

They were painted at the same time, with the same paint. The trunk lid, in fact, was painted on the car, as were the doors. Factory paint was single-stage in those days.
