Can someone please tell me how many '73 hardtops were made? I'm looking to buy a '73 Mustang Q-code that needs a few things, but not much. Also, how much do they go for in decent shape, little to no rust. This one is a Boss 351 clone with hood scoops, auto, no air, white ext, nice blue cloth int., dash OK, duels, full gauges, Edelbrock carb & manifold, 72K miles. It's a Florida car w/ good chrome bumpers, body is straight. Needs headliner, air cleaner housing, carpet, mufflers, and installation of back window (included, however sheet metal needs to be welded in btwn back glass and trunk) and RH door rust fixed. Have not driven the car and I might be buying it long distance through my brother who live nearby. Any guidance most appreciated.

If you are talking hardtops and not fastbacks, according to Kevin Marti's book,Mustang by the NUmbers, 325 Q code 4 speed hardtops and 739 Q code automatic Hardtops were made in 1973.

1967 S code GT Deluxe Coupe 65B
1966 Convertible 76B 289 4 speed

Oh yeah, NADA lists a "20 footer" 73 hardtop as being around $5,090... Sorry I forgot that!

Jason,

Thanks, for your help! The vin I'm not sure about - I think my brother must have made a mistake reading the vin off the dash - I know it has a 351 4v in it but he did not give a letter engine code. The vin he gave is F3F010218553F but that can't be right. I thought it might have been 3FO1Q2 etc. which would be body code 01, or hardtop. I haven't yet see pictures. It's on a car lot and they have not yet produced a title, but my impression is that it's the same body style as your Mach 1 (sportsroof?). I'm just trying to make a determination as if this is something to pursue - they're asking $1000, so it might be a good deal.

Regards,

Gabe
