This weekend has made me realize that keeping the mustang and working on it might not be a good idea. Me and my dad spent the whole day today working on the stang. When we were done my mom said something to my dad and he got all pissed off. Now this has been happening alot recently. I think that the mustang is bringing my dad stress and making him angry alot more.

I was wandering how much I could get for my project. It has everything there to reassemble it. All it needs is paint and reassembly. The engine compartment needs sanding and paint too. But this is how it specs out. I have all the documents of its past and all the reciepts on it from way before I had. I purchased it in september of last year. I took it apart and started working on it. Where it lies right now is the interior is stripped and primer waiting for yellow acrylic enamel paint which I have. After it is painted it could be reassembled. I also have a roll bar for the car which would come with it. I have a totatlly custom interior. The door panels are black with a yellow stripe through them. All the seats are black and stitched with yellow thread. The front bucket seats are from cerullo (a seat making company) The rear seat has been beaffed up in the way of foam for padding it is also black with yellow thread. The qurater panels have been painted and the rear arm rest panels have been rapped in vinyl same as the front buckets and rear seats. I have all brand new carpet brand new headliner. And all new weather stripping for the whole car. I have torque thrust II wheels with kumho tires they are 17x8 in the front and 17x9 in the rear. I have a cowl hood plus the original mach 1 hood. I have all the original mach 1 rocker panels but on the body the panel holes have been welded shut for there were more then one hole and I figured it would be better to start from scratch. Also all the holes on the whole car have been welded so there shouldnt be any uneccessary holes. The engine is a 351 cleveland 4v which now has a tunnel ram with dual 450 cfm holley powdercoated yellow. There is a beefed up lunati cam with 210 duration at .050 with .528 lift. I also have just cleaned the whole block and it is ready for paint. I got roller rockers with roller conversion kits. There is also a brand new 4 rom radiator for sunny california with a spectre sleeve kit in chrome. Also there is a brand new weiand water pump. The transmission was rebuilt in October and has a shift kit in it. Its the 3 speed FMX, I have a torque converter with a 3500 stall speed for this. I have a new water pump and new ford motorsport valve covers. All the suspension pieces like the shocks and sway bars have been painted yellow, also the sway bars are both brand new. The rear drums have been paint yellow and black and the front discs have been left alone. I did get new brake lines for the front. the trunk is all painted and the gas tank is painted black bottom and top. I have a 1971 mach 1 gas cap which look sweet to go with it as well as the original. The rear honeycomb was broken so I welded the holes shut and planned on painting it all black with the black bezels on the brake lights to give it a blacked out look at night. The front I have Piaa fog lights for the front. I have the original halogens which probably need replacing and a front apron and molded spoiler from Mustangs plus. I also have a fiberglass front bumper. The exhaust I have hooker super comp headers that need to be installed and custom installed 40 series flowmaster delta flows with chrome tips. The pipes are painted black with high temp paint and the whole undercarriage is painted black and the front inner fenders have been rolled with truck bed liner. I also have 4 sony speakers for the interior and the door panels and arm rest panels have been cut for those speakers. The hood is also set up for having 4 pins instead of hinges, and I have all the pins you just need to drill the wholes. And I have eliminated the holes up in the front where the hood latch bolted in and the holes for the horn have also been eliminated so you can move the horns down below so they are not visible for show purposes. I think thats about it. I was just hoping you guys could tell me what I could get it for it in this condition. I was hoping around 15000-16000.

Thanks John

A Mach 1, in good condition, might run you $18000 (perhaps?)... depends on the Mach 1... You say it's not painted, so subtract at LEAST $3000-4000 to get it up to the 18k specs.. then it's not together... you probably would get $10k, MAYBE...

then again, everyone is willing to pay whatever they think it's worth... I'd get it together and then if you wanted to sell it at that point, try it... all apart people would be leary unless everything was labeled VERY well.

If it's becoming a point of contention/stress... Don't work on it! Put it down and step away for a while... "A guy goes to the doctor complaining about some pain.. 'doctor, it hurts when i move my arm like this...' and moves his arm up and down... the doctor says 'then don't move your arm like that!'"

Ok guys the thing is. Yes for a start everything is labeled very well in plastic baggys and I have pics and very good documentation of the car and its original owner and all the stuff ever done to it all in a folder. Then I have everything I did to it also. Next the stress is not between me so thats not the problem. My dad gets stressed over it and my mom hates in the garage these two people are always arguing over it and how it needs to get finished and how this needs to be done and Im afraid there going to split up or something. So thats why I need to sell it. I paid 10k for it. So I would like to get a little for than that since everything is there plus more. I have lots of original stuff lots of not so original. But its got alot of new stuff like new weaterstripping new suspension pieces lots of custom stuff to like painted shocks and sway bars and brakes. And 17 inch custom wheels and all that stuff.

Thanks John

None of my business John, but how about just sitting down with your folks and talking things out? Maybe Mom and Dad can agree to a work schedule. I doubt that this is the only issue if they are having problems, but you taking the adult approach might help in all areas. Selling is your choice of course, but the opportunity for some positive communication might pay bigger dividends when it is all said and done.

I agree with Rod. I think if you let your parents know your thoughts, and that you'r ethinking of selling your project so that their relationship can improve, you might find that they take a closer look at what the real issues are.

Good luck. I know it's not a pleasant situation to be in.

I think there is probably A LOT more going on between your mom & dad than just your car. I agree that you should sit them down together and tell them what you've told us including your fears about their relationship. Then give them some time to work things thru between themselves; let the car sit for a month or two and let things settle down a bit. If the situation hasn't improved in a month or two, then think about selling the car.

If your mother's problem lies with the fact that it is in the garage, maybe look into a rental storage facility were you could at least still work on the car, just not in your moms garage. You know what they say: "Out of sight - Out of mind" It might help as part of a compromise???
