How much money in parts do you have for your vintage Mustang that are not installed but are going to be installed when you get around to it?

Ive only got about $1000 worth, I know many of you can top that.

I have about $1200 in parts waiting to go in. Heads, rockers, headers, rear end. Been slowly collecting over the last 2 years. I have just been dragging my butt since car is running good. Its one of those things that I am like why mess with a good running car. Then I drive it and am like dang I need to install those parts on this slow car. :)

I've got a grand of un or briefly used parts in a corner for my next trip to the metal recycler. It adds up.

Literally thousands... I lost track too long ago... as One project leads to another, then as you pull one thing apart, You can't just ignore something you find, and have to attend to that as well.. Been working on my '65 vert on and off since March 2013...since I acquired it. That was 6 years ago.... My goal is to have the car up and driving by September 2020 for the Maelbourne MCA Nationals here.....so at least a have a deadline and a goal......Goals and deadlines are good. They push you...but of course life and other BS gets in the way... When you are a "One man Band" like me...Things go slow....unfortunately.....but better to go slow and right....then fast and wrong.

)

I’d hate to add it up but it’s a lot...thousands considering I have the engine pulled and am building a 496 with a BBM sideoiler block. I’ve had my car since the summer of 2014. I’m 40 y/o and I expect to be finished with my car about the same time I start drawing social security if it’s still there when I retire

This thread should be sticky'd to the top.

I have bought literally hundreds of Mustangs since 1969, and some came with oceans of parts. In some cases, the parts were worth far more than the car.

Then, at swap meets, you see the wreckage of failed projects, new parts, unused, selling for 40% or less than what the person paid for the parts.

That does not count parts that are damaged waiting to be installed (cracked windshields, dented hoods, etc.), age sensitive parts (nothing like new upholstery in the box, purchased, then sitting in a hot shed for 10 years), and changed direction parts (18" wheels and tires purchased, then, well, now back to 14" SS wheels, so tire/wheel set A, sitting for 5 years, has almost no value.

I have recently bought a 69 Mach 1 and literally have added up ~$4K in parts that I got and I paid 10K for the car (still some odd parts that I haven't valued)

Had I been able to talk my way in to an original shaker, could've have been more.

Best not to ask....

It adds up quick. And I couldn’t even come close to guessing the value of stuff I’ve tossed out or given away over the years. And had to buy again because I thought at the time “I won’t need that.....”

Wandering through the house, the only room that does not have at least a couple car parts is the master bath. Example, the upstairs spare bedroom houses a model A roadster body and downstairs bath has corvette parts. I don't have an inventory or price list. I do have several boxes of stuff that are headed to ebay.

I should add that mustang parts are mostly in the living room but there are exceptions.

For now, $0. Later in the season it may be a different story, but for now I've done all the mods I'm going to do. Best not to ask how many unplanned dollars any of us have in our cars. I've already had one heart attack, if I start adding...well, it might not be good. >:)

This is all going to the machine shop tomorrow....
Been buying parts solid for a month now.

Good news, machine shop said the Racetec pistons are in the mail and he will have motor built surging 7-10days.

That’s exciting stuff!

Funny thing, Northern radiator and Spal dual fans with shroud came in today! And instead of it being for a 68 mustang, they sent one for a gremlin???? Wtf?? They shipped out another setup.

And picked up a ididit tilt column.

My biggest item right now is a new MTF radiator. I try not to buy too many things in advance because plans change, the radiator I had to have to finish up cutting and mod of radiator support. Now ask me in a few months when I get around to ordering the Coyote and T56 Magnum.....
