Hi everyone, I'm looking for a used, but good condition 302 that runs healthy and strong, and is reliable. How much should I be looking to pay?

A decent mileage 5.0 from a late-model Mustang should run you around $700-900, typically with a 30-day guarantee. Of course, the problem with this is that it will be complete with manifolds, etc., so you'll be paying for stuff you don't really need if you are not going the EFI/Serpentine conversion route. Precision Engine online lists HO extra long block for $840 + shipping, etc. Here's the link:

I bought a used mid-1970s 302/C4 combo from a guy for $250. It was still installed in the wrecked car, so we heard it run, then helped pull them and loaded the combo up and brought it home. I found it in the "Domestic Parts" section of the local newspaper--had to drive 1 1/2 hours away for it, but I thought it was a good deal.
