Hey guys,

I'm currently looking at buying a car without a title. The guy says that he didn't get a title from the guy he bought it from last, and it was last registered in NY in 1999.

The car is a 1965, and I'm buying it in Texas. I know that Texas seems to have some pretty lenient car laws, so I was just wondering if anyone has gone through this process before? Anything to look for or be aware of? How much work is it? How much does it cost? What kind of documentation is required (bill of sale, etc)?

If anyone has any insight on these types of dealings, please let me know.

Get the VIN and make sure it has no issues when run thru the DMV. Verify the VIN in all 3 locations on the inner fenders. You could inquire at Broadway Titles on line and see what they suggest. It is normally a good hassle to get a title and if the car is in weak shape, it may not be worth it.

Most of the time, it is recommended that you do not purchase unless the title is there. I would let the seller obtain the title or buy another car with a title.
