Here is how I installed the alternator:

1. Disconnect Negative Battery Terminal
2. Disconnect all the existing wires from the alternator

3. Remove old alternator
4. Remove old voltage regulator
5. Install new voltage regulator

6. Connect new ground
7. Connect the Green/Red wire

Connecting the green/red wire was interesting. The three wires near the old alternator are colored White, White/Black, and Black/Red. Black/Red went to ground so that was connected first. I tested both of the other two wires and neither had 12v with the ignition on. I went back to the new Voltage Regulator (VR) and found the Green/Red wire there that connects back to the ALT dummy light. This wire had switched 12v. So, I changed plans and removed the new VR completely. I protected the unused cables and then chose the White/Black wire to connect to the Green/Red wire, I included a 570-ohm resistor to connect the two wires.

Once everything was cleaned up at the old VR I then went back to the alternator and connected the other side of the White/Black wire to the Green/Red from the alternator.

8. Connect the new power connection back to the solenoid.

9. Test!

10. Finished and all cleaned up.

What kind of bracket are you using to hold the alternator?
