Can someone tell me how to replace the Parking brake handle. Looking at the new one there is a screw and a metal dowel. Looking at the old one... how do you get the dowel out?

Tap it out with a small nail punch / drift and a small hammer. Best done with the handle/shaft out of the car.

Jamo, when i did the handle on my 67, there was a metal sleeve molded into the handle. Couldn't drive the pin all the way through because there was only a hole in one side of the sleeve. Even after removing all the plastic part, still couldn't get the pin out. Ended up cutting the sleeve with a cutoff wheel in a grinder.
As said, take it outta the car.

When I did the handle on my 65 it also did not have an exit hole for the pin, and like 289vert I had to cut the metal sleeve off with a Dremel cut-off wheel. It was a PITA to say the least.

Why not just drill the pin, then?

Just did this process. I dremeled the handle off then around the pin with a thick cutting disc. Pulled the pin with lock jaw.
