I have a replacement door to put on my 70 Coupe. But the door I have has undercoat inside that is cracking and falling out in places. It would seem good to remove the hard/dried out undercoat so moisture can't get in behind the old undercoat. I tried chipping away, of course loose chunks come out, but a lot of it is stubbornly clinging on. How about some of you who have done this - Ideas please.

After getting it out, I was planning to prime, paint and spray on a fresh layer of undercoat.

The stuff is all brittle, and has hairline cracks. I'm afraid of moisture getting behind the stuff which might lead to rust.
