Im installing a new Hurst 3spd shifter on my 69 coupe 351C. Any tips or suggestions that could help me out would be great, I've never done this before. Thanks

Modified car, huh? Make sure the trans shift levers are centered in the neutral detents, and use a 1/4" pin through the shifter to lock it in the neutral position. When adjusting the rods, make sure they don't just fit in the shift levers, rattle them to make sure they are centered.

Use a 69-70 shift boot made for the factory Hurst shifter. I'd be tempted to use the factory 4-speed lower boot, too. Not a perfect fit on the 3-speed, but it should work, and will cut down on dirt in the shifter, and reduce heat and noise inside the car.

I hope you invested in the better shifter. The Indy 3spd shifter is prone to jamming up. The Mastershift 3spd is basicly a Competition plus for 3 spds and are a really nice shifter. But they do cost CP dollars.

Don't accidentally install the shift plates on the rods upside down. It will make for a theft-proof shift pattern, but should you have a momentary lapse in concentration there will be a helluva grind.

I did a follow along when I installed my Hurst 4-speed, and the steps to align the everything should be about the same for your 3-speed. Also if you don't have the diagram to show you the orientation of all the rods and links, you can go to summit, and find the kit you are installing, and they have the instructions the thou can print out. I did mine on a table which is waaaaay easier than up under the car. Good luck.
