Ok I have my battery in the trunk with a Flaming River shutoff. Positive cable goes to shutoff and to solenoid. Negative grounds to frame as does the engine (this will be changed). I was driving to and from work when I noticed my radio was blinking on and off like a bad ground all day. Later that night I was driving and there was an explosion like a very loud backfire but with a blue flash. I looked in the trunk and saw that the negative battery cable had exploded and been ripped in half. I tried to reconnect the cable and the positive cable starts to smoke right around the battery shutoff. In addition, the cable from the shutoff to the battery got so hot that the rubber insulation started to melt off the wire. I already replaced the started solenoid just in case, but I still have no power to anything. Thanks!

Midlife, that "Bank of Midlife" picture is completely inappropriate and quite sexist!

(can you send me a larger version?) ;-)
