I bought a new race car and I am picking it up on Friday...

It is race ready, but I'll have to take it all apart and 'fix' it...

That's pretty cool Gary. Did you sell the other one?
Nope, I still have the Road Race one...This car is for turning left only, but it is a Ford!

SCHWEEEET!!!!

[Insert jealous emoticon here!]

Just a though - is rack and pinion steering not normal to have on such a race car?

The block is a M-6010-N351. Cylinder Heads are N351, Carrillo rods, JE pistons, 750 blueprinted Holley carburetor, DUI racing distributor, external oil pump. Build Sheet and DYNO Sheets available - Rated at 520 Horsepower. 2 (3) speed transmissions come with it and I have my clutchless Road Race transmission and a Richmond 4 speed. There are also (6) Ford 9" gearsets that come with the car....

The series the car ran didn't allow any head porting and a max .500 lift cam at the valve. So you know the first thing I am going to do is tweak the heads a little and put a lot bigger cam in the engine........

In the series I'll be running in, a stock GM steering box is required.........

Nice car.

So are you going roundy round racing again? Who is driving? What series?
We are going to be racing at Dixie, which is the track near where your wife is from....

Well, you know I won't be driving the car, so my brother will be driving.......

I still have the Monte Carlo..I can rent that out!

I'm very curious. A friend of mine is interested in getting something similar...although for road racing. Hope my questions are not out of line.

Did you buy it direct from the race team and whats the best way to go about buying one? Does the engine have low hours? What does someone pay for a car like this and what can you expect to get in the way of spares on something like this? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

I bought it from a team that was getting out of racing. I did get some spares, mostly spings and lots of shocks. It is always a crapshoot on whether or not you get spares with a car...

The engine was fairly new, but I am going to be going thru the heads and changing the cam. The series the car came from only allowed non-ported cast iron heads with the valves that came in the heads and a .500 max cam. We can use larger valves and as much cam as we can get with a solid lifter, non-roller cam.

We also have to widen everything by about 4", because we are allowed to.

This car was $10,000, which is about what you'd expect to pay....

Then you would have to buy new RS Suspension parts and possibly a new rear end housing, to convert it to turn right...

Now, I do have a full tube chassis car that I am selling, that I converted last year. It is a lot of fun to take to the track, which I did about 8 times this year....

I'll be there in June of next year so do you think I can take it to a wedding?

Cool ride hope to see it in June.
I let Shaun drive the Monte Carlo, so I'd let you drive it, too....

Where are you going to be for the wedding?
