I changed my tranny fluid yesterday and noticed some small metal shavings in the bottom of the pan. Anyone know what these might be?
The fluid that came out was very clean,just a little clutch dust in the bottom.

I've never changed tranny fluid without finding small metal shavings in the pan. My uncle, a 30 year Ford mechanic, told me it's normal. He said they're from the clutch bands.

Thats good to hear! I normally dont change my own tranny fluid but this time I decided to because I installed a shift kit and wanted to put on a new pan with a drain plug.

ps without a drain plug, what a messy job!

Usually, it looked like grey paste
