Hello,

I am in the market for a C-4 automatic transmission bell housing for my 1965 Mustang. I am looking for a 6 bolt pattern. Can anyone help me with the differences between the 1965 and later models, so I don't get the wrong one. Also, does anyone know a good source for one?

Thanks,

Chuck

Early '64 1/3-Mid '65 is a 5 Bolt Bellhousing.

Late '65 to '66 is a 6 Bolt Bellhousing.

Just count the number of bolt holes on the Block side, and that will tell you which one you should have.

I have a six bolt. What I am trying to find out what separates a 1965 bellhousing from a later one? Are there differences in the shape that I should look for?

The shape is similar between each. All you have to do is count the holes in fromt of the housing. If you'v got six holes where the tranny lines up, You've got the right one...pretty straightforward.
