Hey all,
I am putting an Idle stop solenoid on my Autolite 4300 with A/C. I noticed when I turn on the A/C and pull the accelerator away slightly from the solenoid I notice a spark, not good being so close to gas! It doesn't extend unless I touch the threaded shaft of the solenoid to the A/C compressor or the engine, and spark happens then also. The solenoid is a one mail plug adapter. I would think the carburetor is grounded with everything attaching to it. Any ideas?
Thanks!

It might not be grounded as well as you think. Get a wire with an alligator clip on each end, and ground the base of the solenoid somewhere other than the carb and see if it still happens.

As I look at the picture closer it may have paint on the solenoid bracket preventing it from grounding.... hmm. I will look into both of these possibilities.

I agree with HM69. Remove the nut/bolt that holds the mounting bracket to the manifold, scrape off the paint on that area of the manifold and see it that solves your problem.
