In the middle of redoing entire front suspension on 66 289 manual steering. Two questions concerning Idler Arm:

1) Attached new Idler Arm to frame bracket at correct torque and moved it around before attaching anything else. It turns on bracket, but a lot of resistance. Is this correct, or does any lube go between Idler Arm and bracket?

2) There is a foam washer in teh Idler Arm kit. Where does that go?

You may wanna look up Opentracker, he does a lot of suspension stuff. Just search for him and shoot him a PM.

With an OEM-style idler arm this is normal. The "foam" gasket goes between the ball stud on the idler arm and the center link to keep the joint free of dirt.

A manual idler arm for 65/66 shouldn't be terribly hard to rotate since it doesn't have that special
idiotic bushing that the p/s idler arm has. (return to center function)
I'd convert it to a roller setup rather than the factory rubber bushing used in those.
