I'm swapping out my V8 mustang front drums for Granada front discs.
I have often heard that I need to replace the outer tie rod ends with Granada tie rod ends (which will fit in my sleeves). However, it looks like my tie rod ends will fit.
I haven't tightened everything up yet, but why won't they fit, or WILL they?

Thanks,

Oh, they will fit but they are too small. The tapper is different, once you tighten up the tie rod you'll see what I mean. The Mustang tie rod tapper is smaller and won't tighten up properly.

However, If your car has '67 and newer tie rods (stranger things have happened) than yes, you actually don't need Granada tie rods. This would assume you have '67 or newer spindles as well. My buddies '66 coupe has '70 drum brake spindles for instance, he wouldn't need to buy Granada tie rods if he were to convert to disc brakes.

Check out my Granada Swap page. There is a section on Tie Rods and there's another page that linked that has what tie rods fit what.

I'm here in Waco if you want to take a look at my Granada swap.
